GEorge Langbein
chief executive officer

Over forty-four years of experience in both the government and private commercial industries which featured: management of delivery and selling operations at major commercial (Fortune 500) and government (DoD/Intelligence Community) information technology program offices. With significant expertise in team leadership, organizational development, training, and information technology. 

Holds dual masters degrees in Business (MBA) and Project Management (MSPM); Dual Program Management certifications (DAWIA Level III and PMP); Certified ScrumMaster (CSM); Information Technology Library Foundations Certified (ITILv3) and top government security clearance with previous access to SCI/FSP level credentials.

President & managing director of healthcare consulting

Over twenty-one years as a social worker at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at both the Pittsburgh and Washington, DC VA Medical Centers and two years experience supporting the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) Defense Health Agency as a contractor with General Dynamics (GDIT). Clinical experience in poly trauma, medical/surgical, geriatrics, primary care, and women's health. Eight years of program management experience with the Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND) Programs. Served as lead OEF/OIF/OND program manager for VISN 5, and was a member of national work groups and committees associated with these operational programs.

Holds extensive knowledge in the field of Project Management (with a focus on scheduling, cost management, and communication management), having served in this role for over three years before transitioning into the head of business development and contract capture for The Brandon Green Management Group.

Joanne Gold - bs, MBA, pharmD
senior neuroscience clinician

Joanne is a licensed pharmacist with research and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) management experience who previously served as the Chief of Pharmacy Operations at Ramstein Air Force Base. Joanne is an accomplished professional with a diverse background who supports the office of Clinical Practice/Clinical Recommendation (CP/CR) working directly with TBI research outcomes and recommendations. During her time spent outside of the DVBIC office, Joanne is an avid animal rescue advocate.

sherry sewall - BSN, MPA
program analyst

Sherry currently serves as a Program Analyst and liaison to the Armed Services for the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC). Another member of our team who brings a wealth of experience across public and private sectors; further enabling strategic communication with the Armed Services, facilitating the development of clinical recommendations and products, and helping to improve Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) care across the Department of Defense. Sherry currently serves on the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Committee and is an enthusiastic supporter of her husband’s rowing team.

MUNseok seo - BA, MPH, drph
senior biostatistician

Munseok brings his education and experiential background in statistics and biomedical informatics to our DVBIC Team, working in the Office of Outcomes and Assessments (OOA) to evaluate and analyze Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) outcomes data. Munseok performs statistical analyses in order to disseminate outcomes results through presentations to scientific and professional groups using publications in scientific and professional journals; as well as, translation of outcomes data into useful conclusions for provision into scientific and health policy leadership. He also currently maintains a role as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center - School of Biomedical Informatics

mo abdul odud - bbm, msc
health data manager

Mo also works for our DVBIC Team in the Office of Outcomes and Assessments (OOA). In his role as Health Data Manager, Mo is able to utilize his Master’s Degree in Statistics with a focus on Public Health Epidemiology, to support the Senior Biostatistician in providing methodology for capture, collection, and analysis of outcomes data focused on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Mo is also able to use his certifications in Big Data and the Data Sciences to design and manage TBI-related databases, perform data analysis, and create data sets for outcomes analyses and reporting. Mo is a father of three and a former Science and Technology instructor for the State of Kentucky.

Vinnie recently moved to the Washington D.C. metro area after graduating with his Master’s in Communication to fill the role of Communications Specialist in the Office of Mission Support at the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC). Vinnie brings his professional experience and military background in communications to perform work in all aspects of visual information products relating to DVBIC functions, programs, and initiatives for the purpose of educating and persuading a diverse audience of internal and external customers. When not at our DVBIC location, Vinnie likes reading and watching documentaries, but might miss his days as a nightclub DJ the most.

karin varley - ba in fine art, graphic design
digital communications specialist

Working with the communications team in the Office of Mission Support, Karin manages and maintains the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) website, (https://dvbic.dcoe.mil). Karin collects and analyzes website performance data and metrics using Google Analytics, conducts site-wide content audits, and fine tunes marketing strategies with optimized site content. She also uses Drupal CMS to manage the creation of new pages, existing page updates, blog posts, and various other digital media. Outside of DVBIC, Karin has described herself as an “avid knitter.”

Kathryn perelman - BA ENGLISH, MBA
Social media specialist

Kate also works in the Office of Mission Support communications team, responsible for planning, conducting, and coordinating DVBIC’s Social Media Program. Her primary responsibility is for planning, designing, and executing a program to inform and educate general and specialized audiences, both internal and external, about the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) programs, activities, and services as well as how they relate to the Department of Defense (DoD). With certifications in both Digital Marketing Analytics and Hootsuite, Kate is currently working on a communication rebranding initiative within DVBIC. In her spare time, Kate is a passionate runner and is currently training for a marathon.

sara bailey - AS journalism, bs english
junior communications specialist

The newest member of our communications team in the Office of Mission Support at the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), Sara works in the role of Junior Communications Specialist. Her role will include development and writing of informational materials and presentations, creation of graphic materials and content, as well as monitoring and analyzing the ongoing effectiveness of the current communication effort. Sara will work in the support role for our other communications staff.
